Forming one of the largest protected wildlife ecosystems in the world, Tsavo is a magnificent wild frontier divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West. Tsavo East is famed for its flat, arid plains, the 300km Yatta Plateau (the world's longest lava flow), and the famous 'Red Elephants' that dust themselves in red volcanic soil. Tsavo West features rugged volcanic hills, the lush oasis of Mzima Springs with underwater hippo viewing chambers, Shetani lava flows, and the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary.
